| The Greyfield Inn is a grand and graceful mansion located on Georgia's largest and southernmost coastal island, Cumberland Island. Built in 1900 as a home for Lucy and Thomas Carnegie's daughter, Margaret Ricketson, it was opened as an Inn in 1962 by Margaret's daughter Lucy R. Ferguson, and her family. Greyfield is furnished today as it was at the turn of the century, with contemporary amenities blended in with the comfort of the guests in mind. Greyfield Inn offers an American Plan package, which includes a satisfying breakfast, a picnic lunch, and a candlelit gourmet dinner. Spend your days birding, shelling, swimming, hiking, and fishing, or simply stroll our pristine, white sand beach and savor unparalleled privacy. Cumberland Island is designated a National Seashore, and, as such, is preserved and protected from development. The daily visitor rate is limited, ensuring a tranquil setting for the island's population of wild horses, deer, bobcat, armadillos, and birds. The Greyfield Inn compound includes more that 1000 acres for our guests' use. |
