The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Lewes Public Library and Movies at Midway announce the second screening in its 2012-2013 Around the World series of critically acclaimed, international independent films. The award-winning Israeli drama “Seven Minutes in Heaven” will be presented on Wednesday, October 3 at 7:00 pm in the upstairs screening room at Movies at Midway. Admission to this film series is free and open to the public.
“Seven Minutes in Heaven” is both a moving portrayal of loss and a tense psychological thriller. Galia, a young woman from Jerusalem, and her boyfriend Oren experience a deadly terrorist attack aboard a local bus. In the aftermath, both are seriously injured. Galia, with severe burns and memory loss, cannot recall the day of the terrorist attack or the days leading up to it. The film begins one year after the attack as Galia undergoes physical and mental therapy and attempts to stitch together the shattered fragments of her life and soul. A necklace sent to her from an unidentified source sets her off on a journey to find the missing pieces of the puzzle from that fateful day. Her search is further complicated by her attraction to Boaz, a mysterious stranger who unlocks her buried emotions. Variety raved that this “unforgettable” dramatic film is an “impressive feature debut” by Israeli filmmaker Omri Givon. [2009, Hebrew with English subtitles, Runtime: 94 min, Not rated]
