| Description: | The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Monthly Screening series will feature “Man in the Chair” on Thursday, Mar 22, at 7:00 pm at DiFebo’s in Bear Trap Dunes, and on Friday, Mar 23, at 7:00 pm in the upstairs screening room at the Movies at Midway.
An award - winning drama, “Man in the Chair” stars Christopher Plummer as Flash, a man who longs for the days when he worked as a crew member on such cinematic masterpieces as “Citizen Kane”. When Flash meets teenage film fanatic Cameron Kincaid (Michael Angarano), he becomes an unlikely mentor and agrees to help Cameron make a film to compete in a student competition where the top prize is a film school scholarship and, for Cameron, a ticket out of his difficult home life. Flash recruits his eccentric friends from the Motion Picture Home. A quirky fellowship develops, in which Flash and his friends help Cameron make his film, and, in doing so, change his life.
According to Rex Reed of the “New York Observer”, “Man in the Chair is a modest but intelligent feel-good movie with a spectacular performance by Christopher Plummer and some wise and deeply affecting writing and direction by Michael Schroeder. [2007, USA, Runtime: 107 min, Rated PG-13]
Pamela Preston, a local film and television production professional, will lead a post-screening discussion.
Monthly screenings are $4 for Rehoboth Beach Film Society members (current membership card must be presented), and $6 for future members. Attendees of the Ocean View screening at DiFebo’s get 10% off their meal on the evening of the screening. DiFebo’s begins serving dinner at 4:30 pm, reservations and early arrivals for dinner are encouraged.
