FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 29, 2012 FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT: Greg Jones Rehoboth Beach Film Society 107 Truitt Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 302-645-9095, ext 2 educationcoordinator@rehobothfilm.com Cinema by the Canal continues its summer series of outdoor film screenings for all ages with “The Muppets” (2011) on Wednesday, July 25 at the Lewes Canalfront Park. The three-part series is sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Friends of Canalfront Park, and Citizens Bank. Walter, the world's biggest Muppet fan, and his friends Gary and Mary, learn that greedy oilman Tex Richman wants to raze the Muppet Theater so he can drill for the oil underneath. The only way to save the theater is to raise $10 million. With a great plan to stage The Greatest Muppet Telethon, Walter and friends set out to reunite the Muppets, who went their separate ways years ago. Depressed Kermit the Frog now lives in his own mansion in Hollywood. The Great Gonzo is a high class plumber at Gonzo's Royal Flush. Fozzie Bear performs with a tribute band called The Moopets. Miss Piggy is the plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, and Animal is at a celebrity anger management rehab center in Santa Barbara. Can these characters reunite and put on the best performance ever to save Muppet Theater? [2011, USA, Runtime: 102 min, Rated PG]. The first Muppets theatrical release in 12 years, this musical hit features everyone’s favorite Muppet characters, along with film and television star Jason Segel (“How I Met Your Mother,” “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), Oscar nominee Amy Adams (“Enchanted,” “Doubt”) and Oscar winner Chris Cooper (“Adaptation”). The Washington Post calls it a “delightful family film” that will “make sure that everyone—and I mean everyone—is happy.” A Kids Choice Awards nominee for Favorite Movie, “The Muppets” also won this year’s Academy Award for Best Song (“Man or Muppet”). The film will begin at dusk (8:15 - 8:30 pm) at Canalfront Park located at 211 Front Street in Lewes. Admission is free. Please bring chairs or blankets and insect repellent and come enjoy a unique and fun family outdoor film experience. For more information, please visit www.rehobothfilm.com. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: June 21, 2012 FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT: Greg Jones Rehoboth Beach Film Society 107 Truitt Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971 302-645-9095, ext 2 educationcoordinator@rehobothfilm.com The Rehoboth Beach Film Society and the City of Rehoboth Beach open the seventh year of Cinema by the Surf, a series of free family movies, with a screening of the inspiring story of “Soul Surfer” on Thursday, July 19, starting at dusk (8:15 – 8:30 pm) at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. Bethany (AnnaSophia Robb) was born to surf. A natural talent who took to the waves at a young age, she was leading an idyllic life on Kauai, participating in national surf competitions with her best friend Alana (Lorraine Nicholson), when everything changed. One Halloween morning, a 14-foot tiger shark came out of nowhere and seemed to shatter the thirteen year-old’s dreams. “Soul Surfer” reveals Bethany's fight to recover from her ordeal and how she grappled with the question of her future. Strengthened by the love of her parents, Tom (Dennis Quaid) and Cheri (Helen Hunt), and supported by her youth group leader Sara (Carrie Underwood), Bethany is boldly determined to return to the water. This action-filled drama won a MovieGuide Award in 2011 for Best Film for Families. The New York Times calls it “a portrait of a spirited, resilient athlete” that “dazzles in its surfing sequences.” [2011, USA, Runtime: 106 min, Rated PG.] This event is free to the public. Seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Come enjoy a unique and fun family outdoor film experience. For more information, visit rehobothfilm.com or rehobothbandstand.com.
