Around the World features critically acclaimed, international, independent films and is sponsored by Rehoboth Beach Film Society, Lewes Public Library, and Movies at Midway. The film series is free and open to the public. “A Screaming Man” is “a simple tale of the love between a father and a son, and the way political, social and economic pressures threaten that love,” says Peter Brunette of “The Hollywood Reporter”. This drama explores a father-son relationship fraught with sacrifice, selfishness, and guilt. The father, Adam, is a former swimming champion in his sixties, working as a pool attendant at a hotel in the Republic of Chad. When the hotel gets taken over by new owners, he is forced to give up his job to his son, Abdel, leaving Adam humiliated and resentful. Meanwhile, the country is in the throes of a civil war. Rebel forces are attacking the government and the authorities demand that people contribute to the war effort either by giving money or volunteering to become soldiers. Adam is constantly harassed to make his contribution, but he is penniless. Under this great pressure, Adam makes a fateful decision that he might regret.
